You are essentially a normal human, with a normal human template. You can basically have any character sheet template you want, but make sure to include a description of your character and their overall background. It's of course, New World of Darkness, God machine rules, in addition to the myriad of houserules applied after the fact. You can have any human merit from any of the books you want, but it mostly focuses on TFV and God machine. At character creation only one attribute, merit or skill can have above a 4 in any area. As you are not supernatural beings, there is no equivalent of Gnosis, Chi or other similar abilities, but you can raise any skill, attribute or merit where it's applicable to 6, instead of 5. Also, you have 23 skill dots to spread out among any of the skills you choose, rather than the typical 11/7/4 method. However, like before, only 1 skill can potentially be raised above 4.

You can choose to be either a TFV member, military or law enforcement, or an ordinary civilian. All characters must be over 18, however. You can choose to be anything you want, however the story does revolve around the TFV characters and motivations. The story of the Hunter's is applied to the game, but the actual mechanics are instead the New World of Darkness, and the house rules described. Any of the non-supernatural merits are available, but try to use your common sense with picking various merits, such as contacts, as a person in California more or less doesn't provide you any tangible benefits.

Furthermore, resources is a merit that has been completely removed. You can start off with any array of weapons and equipment that you can carry (up to 25 x your strength in pounds), and weapons must come from those listed in the armory, unless otherwise noted. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me below. As well, you can post your character sheet in a separate topic in this forum.

Attributes: 5/4/3, or 4/4/4
Skills: 23 dots in any skills
Merits: 10
Starting Experience: 10 exp
Special considerations: Only one skill, attribute or merit can be 5 or above at character creation.

Task Force Valkyrie - Hunter - Books Allowed
Essentially, the game is based around the story of Task Force Valkyrie being sent in to ground zero to take out a bunch of zombies, but the actual Hunter book is more or less thrown out the window. All the story elements are identical, but the mechanics are pretty much disregarded. However, the merits and other factors are included.

In fact, the merits of all the world of darkness, pre and post 2nd edition, are allowed, so long as a human can reasonably take them. The exception to this is where it is stated, such as in the house rule merit section. Where there is conflict, such as between professional training in the hunter books and the God machine book, it is preferable that you use the 2nd edition, but it is not required. Beats more or less replace the secondary experience in TFV, making virtually all the mechanics moot. As well, try and use your common sense. The "witch buster" gun is essentially pointless given, there will literally be no witches in this game. It's a zombie game and, more or less sci-fi at that so there's no magic. Certain merits will be worthless or are already disallowed so, try to avoid theses in character creation.

While it is a very combat heavy game, hopefully other story elements will still be engaging and important. The additional rules are designed to give players greater flexibility and balance, with smaller, finer details worked over more clearly. In this way players have to less worry about mechanics as they are already fleshed out specifically and clearly, and are designed to give the average player more options. Try not to feel intimidated by all the house rules; if you don't know something, don't worry about it. As the GM it's there mostly as a reference, for you, to how I will respond in certain situations.
